Using OMF testbeds at Winlab¶
OMF is currently deployed and used on many indoor and outdoor testbeds at Winlab (Rutgers University, USA), as part of the NSF-funded ORBIT project.
To reserve and access resources on these testbeds in order to run your experiment:
- First, you need to register a user account with Winlab: The ORBIT Getting Started page
- Second, you need to reserve a time slot for a given ORBIT testbed: The ORBIT Reservation System
Note on the ORBIT reservation system:¶
The ORBIT reservation system do not support the sharing of a given testbed between multiple experimenters for a given time slot.
OMF has some initial support for the concurrent use of a given testbed by multiple experimenters. Currently 2 experimenters can use a given testbed at the same time with the following limitations:
- each of them have to use a disjoint set of resources from the other (i.e. no support for resource virtualisation)
- they have to agree on the usage/sharing of the wireless medium (i.e. no support for wireless medium reservation/enforcement)
New OMF features to address these two limitations are currently under development.
